The Children’s Parade starts the Brighton Festival every year in May, and is a procession of around 5000 kids from the city’s schools. It’s full of music, dance, colour and costume, and should not be missed by anyone in town. It normally kicks of in the morning about 10.30 around Sydney Street in the North Laine, and winds it’s way through the city streets to finish on Madeira Drive by the seafront around 1pm.
Every year has a different theme, and it’s wonderful to see the effort of all the parents, teachers, artists, musicians, choreographers and not forgetting all 5000 kids, come to fruition in the perfect start to Brighton Festival and Brighton Fringe. Just hope for good weather!
